LDR Performance Tuning is the latest team to confirm their entry to the inaugural season of the Clio Cup GB Championship, operated by MotorSport Vision Trackdays (MSVT), and the team have wasted no time in revealing the identity of their driver for the 2024 season; Ben Jenkins.
LDR Performance Tuning is an experienced racing outfit, having been involved in both the JCW and Trophy classes of Mini Challenge for the past ten years. The team are already familiar with the Clio Cup GB organisers too, fielding multiple cars in the popular MSVT-operated endurance series EnduroKA throughout the last few seasons. LDR will be hoping to utilise all the knowledge gained from their various motorsport endeavors to mount a serious challenge in the new-for-2024 Clio Cup GB.
Team Manager Lawrence Davey commented: ‘When Ben called and wanted to join the Clio Cup GB grid for 2024, it made sense for us to also join as a team. We have a lot of front-wheel-drive experience, so we are hoping to hit the ground running.’
Driver Ben Jenkins has already established a strong relationship with LDR Performance Tuning, racing with the team in Mini Challenge last season. Jenkins impressed over the course of the season and will be aiming to bring this momentum with him into this new venture.
When questioned, the British driver commented:
"I'm really excited to be competing in Clio Cup GB in 2024. After a successful double campaign last year, I feel like it's the right time in my career to step up and take on the challenge of learning a new championship and car.”
“The organisers seem to be putting together a really good and competitive championship in which we should see some really close racing throughout the year, which is always what we want as drivers.”
“It's going to be a very interesting year, especially the first couple of rounds. As it is a new championship, there will be a lot of unknowns about the cars and drivers but we will continue to work hard throughout the winter to be as prepared and fully focused as possible heading into Silverstone.”
“I'm also really pleased to be continuing my partnership with LDR Performance Tuning, they helped me a lot when we made the switch at the start of last year, which led to multiple podiums finishes across both campaigns. I'm really happy that I get to compete under the LDR banner once again in 2024. "
