Westbourne Motorsport have revealed the identity of their first driver for the upcoming Clio Cup Great Britain season as talented youngster Sam Gornall.
Gornall has yielded strong results in each category that he has raced in previously, with a multitude of victories and podiums to his name.
Fresh from winning the MINI Challenge Graduate Cup last year, Gornall will now be looking for further single-make success with Westbourne Motorsport when he makes the step up to Clio Cup GB in 2025.
Gornall, commenting on the announcement, said:
"I’m absolutely delighted to be racing again with Westbourne Motorsport - we achieved great things last season in the Mini, and look forward to achieving even greater success in the Clio Cup car this year!”
“I drove the car for first time at Snetterton and it was even better than I expected. It is certainly the step up I was looking for and can’t wait for the season to start!”
Westbourne Motorsport Team Principal James Colburn added:
“First and foremost I’m absolutely delighted that Sam is remaining within the Westbourne Motorsport family - he’s a real talent and has the potential to achieve great things.”
“Moving across to Clio Cup GB will come with its challenges, but our experience in the series and working with Sam will undoubtedly help us hit the ground running that bit sooner. I’ve no doubt that if we do our job as team then he’ll be challenging for podiums, wins and the title.”
Achievement has been found away from the circuit for the Lancashire driver too, having recently completed a bespoke two year Motorsport UK Enhanced Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme at Loughborough College - which supports talented drivers through both the sporting and academic pathway.
Visits to all three of Great Britain’s Grand Prix circuits kickstart the 2025 Clio Cup GB season, beginning with Silverstone on Sunday 6 April.
